Executive Director

Wendy Bobby
Wendy began her passion for dance at a very young age and has continued to pass on this love of dance and performing arts. Wendy's dance education began in a small Northwestern Ontario town and continued in Thunder Bay, where she graduated from Confederation College in the field of Recreation. In the years of pursuing her dance education she traveled throughout Canada and the U.S.A. to attend workshops and conventions. Wendy has had the great fortune to be taught directly by Al Gilbert known as the "Pied Piper of Teachers"- Teacher of Teachers. This education combined with Wendy's passion to share the love of dance and performing arts has lead her to teach in Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Steinbach, various rural communities in south eastern Manitoba before settling in the RM of Springfield. For the past 24 years, she has dedicated herself to the development of the SPACE.

Teaching Faculty

Melanie Warbeck- Lyrical, Jazz, Dance Fit
Melanie has many years of teaching and performing experience. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Arts, Education and a Post Bacceuleaurte in Special Education.  Starting at age 6, Melanie's formal training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical and musical theatre was completed through the Academy of Dance and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. She received her jazz and tap training through the ADAPT syllabus and attended many workshops and seminars in both Canada and U.S. Travelling the NYC for the New York Dance Teachers Summit to attend workshops given by Master teachers from across the globe was a definite highlight. Melanie has performed in local performances at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, Club Regent Casino, The West End Cultural Centre, The Pyramid and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet adult program. Miss Mel enjoys sharing her love and passion for dance with her students. She provides a high energy class that focuses in developing dance technique, musicality and confidence as a dancer.



Gloria Chen- Ballet, Pointe
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Gloria Chen started dancing at the age of 6, studying various dance forms including Chinese dance, modern and ballet. Her dance journey led her to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet where she graduated from the Professional Division Teachers' Course program in 1998. Gloria holds certificates in Intermediate, Advanced I and Advanced II Cecchetti as well as Associate and Associate Diploma degree's in teaching from the Cecchetti Society of Canada. For the past 19 years, Gloria has been dancing with Bolero Dance Theatre, performing Flamenco, Spanish Folk, Classical Spanish and Bolero.As a member of the company, she has performed in the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's Indigenous Festival Concert with the Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers as well as many Winnipeg Fringe Festival. This year marks her 13th year at the SPACE.





Andrea Chaput- Jazz, Ballet, Jazz Technique
Andrea began dancing at the age of four at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. At 6 she joined the CCDA family. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop. She has completed examinations in the Al Gilbert tap syllabus as well as her senior certificate exam in Cecchetti ballet syllabus. In 2006 Andrea became part of the Canadian National Tap team winning gold in the IDO World Tap Dance Competition in Germany. She has attended various workshops throughout her dance training as well as numerous competitions locally and internationally. Andrea has been teaching for 8 years, and in 2008 she completed her Royal Winnipeg Ballet Teacher Intensive training. Andrea spent a year away in Australia, and since has been happy to be back home at CCDA.






Rebekah Jones- Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, Springfield Theatre Company Director
Rebekah is a Triple Threat performer and teacher with many years of experience and training. She has performed in local theatres and as a vocalist for Queen Elizabeth II, former Prime Minister Jean Cretien, Adrienne Clarkson, among others. Rebekah is trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Character and Musical Theatre. She has choreographed full-length musicals and most notably won the Paddy Stone Scholarship through the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional School's First Steps competition. Rebekah has completed the 3 year Teachers Training Program at the RWB. Rebekah is currently the director for Springfield Theatre Company.








Melissa Baert- Tap, Hip Hop, Pre-School,

Springfield Theatre Company Assistant Director
Melissa started her dance education at the age of 4 with CCDA. After starting her training in our Mentorship Program in 2008/09 she joined our Faculty in 2013/14. Melissa has been a member of the Canadian Junior Formation Tap Team travelling to Riesa, Germany in 2008 and 2011 placing 3rd overall in 2008 and 2011 and placing 2nd overall on the Production Team in 2011. In 2012 she began her involvement with the Springfield Theatre Company as a student and then in 2014 she started as the Assistant to the Director. In 2015 Melissa received the Senoir Tap Scholarship at the Dance Manitoba Provincial Festival and performed at the annual Dance Manitoba Gala Night.






Tayler Fey- Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop

Dancing at the age of 6, Tayler is in her sixth year of teaching.  Her love for dance has grown throughout the years, leading her to train in tap, jazz, ballet/pointe, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, Irish and ballroom. For the past 15 years she has been competing in numerous competitions and has been fortunate enough to be able to travel with dance and train in places like Los Angeles, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, and Minneapolis. Travelling has given her the opportunity to be able to learn from some of the best choreographers. Tayler was honored to have received the Extreme Apprentice Scholarship Award where she was able to travel and assist with Canadian Choreographer Melissa Williams (SYTYCDC). This is Tayler's 4th year with the SPACE.










Dayna Ladd- Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pre-School

Dayna has been dancing with CCDA since she was nine years old. She started her training in our Mentorship Program in 2009/10 and joined our faculty in 2014/15.In 2015, Dayna received the Senoir Tap Scholarship at the Dance Manitoba Provincial Festival and performed at the annual Dance Manitoba Gala Night.










Deanna Flaten- Tap, Hip Hop

Deanna started her dance education at the age of 4 with CCDA. She started her mentorship journey in 2008/2009 and joined our teaching faculty in 2013/14. In 2011 she travelled to Reisa, Germany to compete in the World Tap Dance Championships as part of Team Canada. She placed 6th overall with the Senior Formation Team and 2nd overall with the Production Team.In 2015, Deanna received the Senoir Tap Scholarship at the Dance Manitoba Provincial Festival and performed at the annual Dance Manitoba Gala Night. On top of all her dance success she had also had many academic accomplishments. In 2013, She received the highest overall average in her grad class and the Governer General's Bronze Medal award. She currently studies Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba.





Treasure Waddell- Acro, Tumbling, Pilates

Treasure is a Winnipeg based Independant Dance Artist, Choreographer, Pranassage Practitioner and Teacher of Dance, Yoga & Pilates. Treasure has been a dance educator for many years in the Winnipeg Community. As a dance artist, Treasure has performed with Winnipeg Based Ruth Cansfield Dance Company as well as Rachel Browne, Brent Lott, Christina Medina for @tendance, Ali Robson, Brianna Stark, Peggy Baker for Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers and in her own choreography which includes Ordinary Acts and Pippi Longstocking,-A Story in Dance. The summer of 2014, Treasure was Apprentice Choreographer with Winnipeg's Rainbow Stage. Treasure has increased her love and knowledge of dance studying in Vienna, Toronto, California, Montreal, North Carolina, New York City and Germany.






Karley Melsted- Tap, Jazz, Ballet

Karley started her dance training with CCDA at the age of 3. Since then she joined our Mentorship program in 2010/11 and has recently joined our faculty in 2015/16.

Devyn-Skye Stewart Brook- Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary

It has been a love affair since the age of three for Devyn and Dance. She began her training with Doreen Bissette School of Dance before finding her dance family at Cooks Creek Dance Academy, here she completed her Al Gilbert tap exams and began training for Cecchetti exams. She began assisting her teachers at the age of 12 and teaching at the age of 15. Devyn expanded her dance training as she joined the Junior Professional Program with the school of Contemporary Dancers, followed by an acceptance into the Intensive Training Program with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet where she completed her Advanced Level Cecchetti Ballet Exams. This created an incredible foundation to move to Toronto on scholarship to participate in Ryerson Universities Performance Dance Program. Since Toronto, Devyn has been training and teaching through Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto, and New York City. Devyn also teaches yoga and meditation which she invites into her classes to honor the wellbeing of her students. 



Hannah Shibou-Savoie- Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop

Hannah started her dance journey at Cooks Creek Dance Academy when she was 7. She continued to grow with dance, taking ballet, jazz, tap, hiphop and lyrical over the years. She joined the mentorship program in 2012/2013 and joined the faculty this past year in 2016/2017. Hannah currently teaches hip hop and combo ballet and tap classes. She currently studies Sciences at the University of Manitoba, in the pursuit of joining the Faculty of Nursing.












Melanie Zebrynski- Voice


Melanie has many years of classical vocal and theory training, as well as dance and performance. She has completed her grade 10 Royal Conservatory certification and attended the CMU music program, taking part in the CMU Singers Choir while she was there. Having taken part in The Winnipeg Jazz Festival for five years, CNDC (musical theatre), and around the city at open mics and in concerts with other local artists at venues such as The West End Cultural Centre, Rachel Brown Theatre, Cinemateque, and The Park Theatre, she's gained a wealth of performance experience. She's currently in a band and has done guest vocals on three albums, from rock to folk. She's competed in the Winnipeg Music Festival for eight years, earning gold excellence marks in Musical Theatre, Italian Art Song, English Art Song, French Melodie, Opera Aria, and Folk Song. Along with teaching voice at The Space, Melanie also works as a teacher's assistant in a school orchestra program
